Why Dental Implants Are Often Better Than a Fixed Bridge

There are many reasons why you may need to have a tooth restoration, and you may find yourself trying to choose between dental implants and a fixed bridge. Many Celebration residents have received dental implants and are recommending this option much more frequently than fixed bridges. If you are in need of a tooth restoration and you’re not sure what to do, contact the team at Implant and Comprehensive Dentistry in Champions Gate and Celebration, FL to find out how to fix this situation and get smiling again.
How Do Dental Implants Work?
When you lose a tooth, you’ll need to address the situation as soon as possible in order to keep your remaining teeth properly aligned and functioning properly. With a dental implant, you will receive a replaceable tooth root that can then be fitted with either a temporary or permanent tooth. This option is long-lasting and allows you to enjoy a new tooth that looks exactly like your natural teeth.
The root that will hold the implant is secured directly to your jawbone. This implantation will heal with your gums growing around the implanted root, making it secure and helping it to stay in place. The implant root is constructed of titanium which is a very long-lasting material. Once your root is in place and your gums and bone have healed, you will receive your new tooth. The tooth is attached to the root using a small connector post.
How Much Recovery Time Will I Need after Dental Implants?
Like so many other dental procedures, your timeline to full healing will depend on factors such as your overall health. The major healing process will occur when the implant root is inserted, and once this process is complete and your gums and jawbone have healed, the remaining steps of the process will require very little, if any, recuperation or downtime.
Our dental team will review all of the pertinent details relating to your specific case during your consultation. It is during this appointment that your question will be answered and your concerns addressed. Your course of treatment will be custom-made to suit your specific oral health needs.
