Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry Services

The most obvious benefit of cosmetic dentistry is a significant improvement in your appearance. Straight, white teeth give you a Hollywood smile that will go far to build up your self-confidence. Cosmetic dentistry procedures can help contribute to healthy teeth and gums by making it easier to clean your teeth and by reducing the effects of bruxism or teeth grinding.

Along with an overall confidence boost, you may also have a better chance at acing a job interview. Research shows that people who take care of their teeth do better at social occasions and job interviews. When your teeth are straight, they are easier to clean. Regular brushing and flossing will have more effect than if there are corners that cannot be reached. Plaque and debris will build up in the unreachable places, causing tooth decay and gum disease. Misaligned teeth can cause jaw pain, headaches and grinding.

When you have damaged teeth, it may affect the way you chew and speak. You may mispronounce certain words and avoid foods you love because it is painful or impossible to chew them properly. Our cosmetic dentistry specialist may examine your teeth during your consultation and recommend procedures that can solve these problems.

Following are some common procedures provided with cosmetic dentistry:

Teeth whitening – there are several different treatments for whitening teeth, including bleaching and laser treatments. Teeth can be lightened many different shades.

Composite tooth fillings – these are an alternative to dark amalgam fillings. They are very strong and match your tooth color so they are virtually invisible. Composite fillings are strong at the end of the procedure, allowing you to chew immediately.

Implants and bridges – when there are gaps between the teeth, the jawbone does not get regular exercise from chewing. This can cause the bone to deteriorate, leaving sunken areas that may make your cheek sag. This not only makes you look older, but it is also unhealthy for your mouth. Implants are embedded into your jawbone and help restore bone mass.

Veneers – these are thin porcelain shells that fit perfectly over a chipped or cracked tooth. The veneer is bonded to the tooth and looks and functions like a natural tooth. The shell has the same color as the other teeth and may be a good alternative to some orthodontic treatments.

Crowns – these artificial teeth can be attached to a natural tooth root or the titanium post of an implant. Crowns are a good solution to broken or chipped teeth in the front of your mouth as well as for molars in the back.

While the main benefits of cosmetic dentistry improve the appearance of your teeth and smile, some of the procedures can also improve your overall dental health and hygiene. When your teeth are straight and white, your smile is relaxed and confident.
