How to Find the Right Dentist in Winter Haven

A comprehensive dentistry practice is one that is designed to be a one-stop practice that fills multiple dental needs. Our skilled dentist in Winter Haven can provide such services as teeth whitening, preventative care and cleaning, and many other treatments. Rather than refer patients to specialists, our comprehensive dentistry practice can take care of most problems in the comfort of our office.

What is Prosthodontics?

Prosthodontics is the field of dentistry which is concerned with planning and executing cosmetic and reconstructive treatments. As such, our dentist may recommend any of the following treatments:

  • Dentures
  • Bridges
  • Dental implants
  • Veneers
  • Crowns

All of the above either replace teeth or strengthen damaged teeth. Our dentist can also treat patients with other dental issues and conditions.

What Does an Oral Cancer Exam Involve?

An oral cancer exam is a simple procedure that is considered a preventative service. Oral cancer can be fatal, but it can be easily treated if caught in the early stages. There are several different types of oral cancer, and most of them begin around the mouth. Oral cancers can also involve the following places:

  • Tongue
  • Throat
  • Gums
  • Saliva glands
  • Face

If the dentist finds something suspicious, a biopsy can be performed. The treatment will depend on the type of cancer and its severity, but there are options.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of a special titanium post. Titanium is used because it is “biocompatible,” which means the body won’t reject it. It also stimulates the growth of bone, so the implant eventually becomes part of the jaw.

When the fusion process is complete, the dentist will attach a connector called an abutment to the implant. A custom-made crown that looks like a natural tooth or set of natural teeth will be installed on top of the abutment. With proper care, the implant could last the rest of the patient’s lifetime.
